Understanding card categories and variance
How category labels organize analytical intent without guaranteeing a result.

Categories describe an analytical profile
Card categories group publications by their intended balance of confidence, price, and variance. They help readers compare the reasoning approach used for different cards. The category definition and variance label should always be read together.
Relative risk is still risk
Labels such as Core Picks or Lower-Odds Picks are comparative descriptions within the product methodology. They do not mean guaranteed, certain, or risk-free. Bold Picks, Long Shots, and High-Odds Picks communicate progressively higher variance and lower expected hit frequency.
Use categories as context
A category can help you decide which reports deserve closer reading, but it cannot predict unexpected match events. Review the selections, risks, timing, and your own affordability limits. No category should be used as a reason to chase a loss or exceed a planned budget.
